Mindful Eating with Dr Jan Chozen Bays

Problems related to food can come from our emotions and thoughts. Moreover, in a society of overabundance that constantly solicits us, we tend to overeat without being aware of it, and often to eat not by hunger but to calm our stress and our anxieties.

Dr. Jan Chozen Bays offers an approach to transform the way we eat and lose weight without depriving ourselves: it consists in observing the tastes, the smells, the feelings, the thoughts and the emotions which arise during a meal.

Relying on recent scientific research and her experience as a physician and meditation teacher, Dr. Jan Chozen Bays presents this proven approach to reconnect with the wisdom of our body to know what we need, when and in what quantities, identify our eating habits, eat less and better without frustration, and develop a new relationship to food and ourselves.

A pediatrician and teacher of zen and meditation, Jan Chozen Bays has been studying and practicing Zen since 1973, and teaches mindfulness, especially for health professionals. She also co-founded a Zen monastery in Oregon, the Great Vow Zen Monastery in Clatskanie, in 2002.
