Katleen Van der Gucht

is a senior researcher at KU Leuven. She is co-founder of Leuven Mindfulness Centre, KU Leuven (https://ppw.kuleuven.be/home/mindfulness/). An interdisciplinary research centre supporting high quality research on mindfulness. She is a biologist and has a PhD in Biology. In 2007 she came into contact with mindfulness. Since then she is carrying out research on how mindfulness meditation can have an impact on our lives and on the mechanisms that determine the effectiveness of mindfulness. She was nominated for one of the final four laureates for the 2018 “Science and Public Health” prize of the Belgian Superior Health Council for her LMC PhD thesis “Mindfulness applications to diverse populations and working mechanisms” defended in 2017. She published several papers on mindfulness in international peer reviewed journals.
